Laser
The term laser is an acronym for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation, or a light amplifier. A laser is a device that uses the principle of amplification of electromagnetic waves by stimulated emission of radiation and operates in the infrared, visible, or ultraviolet region.

Laser Resurfacing
Laser resurfacing involves the use of laser light to smooth wrinkles or scars on the skin of the face. A CO2 laser is absorbed in the superficial portions of the skin and it's power vaporizes a thin layer of tissue on the surface of the face, resulting in smoother skin.

Lidocaine
A local anesthetic.

Lip Augmentation
Lip augmentation is a procedure to enhance the fullness of lips. This is accomplished either by injection of a soft tissue filler, such as collagen or by the placement of synthetic or grafted material.

Lip Lift
Lip lift is a technique that surgically lifts the corners of the aging mouth to eliminate the pronounced droop and unhappy facial expression that often develops with advanced age. By cutting away small diamonds of skin just above the corners of the mouth, the vermilion (border of the lips) is raised into a slight smile.

Lip Reduction
Lip reduction is a procedure to reduce the lips, where a small strip of the mucosa (the lining of the lip) is surgically removed to narrow the lips to the desired proportion. In most instances the small scars on the outside of the lips are barely noticeable.

Lipectomy
Lipectomy is the surgical removal of fatty tissues.

Lipolysis
Lipolysis is the splitting or chemical decomposition of fat.

Lipolytic
Lipolytic is a term meaning relating to or causing lipolysis.

Lipoplasty
Lipoplasty is the surgical removal and/or displacement of fatty or lipid substance.

Liposuction
Liposuction is a procedure that removes excess fat through a suctioning process. Although liposuction is not a substitute for weight loss, it is a way of changing the body's shape and contour.
